Fishing For Other Species

While we've concentrated on flats, shark and drum fishing, the waters of the Eastern Shore offer an amazing variety of quality fishing opportunities. Holden Creek Gun Club is willing to customize our fishing guide services in most any direction you wish. For example, Capt. Ross has been very successful in recent years fishing for trophy spadefish. These "tuna of the Bay" are brutal fighters testing both anglers and gear under the best conditions. Combine this with the fact that they are found around heavy structure and you get some very sporting fishing. Spadefish can be chummed up behind the boat in many cases which provides opportunities for fly fishing for these spectacular game fish.

In addition to the typical species often sought over eelgrass beds, gray trout (weakfish), large croaker and flounder are often "by-catches" of flats fishing. These species (along with numerous others) are also the hallmarks of bottom fishing opportunities that abound in the Bay. We are especially willing to offer our services for such fishing when someone is trying to introduce younger fishermen to the sport or would like to combine some informal fishing with a natural history tour.
